Product Overview

ETD59 horizontal high frequency transformer is a core power conversion component widely adopted in high-power switching power supplies. It perfectly matches multiple mainstream circuit topologies including half-bridge, full-bridge, push-pull and resonant conversion circuits. ETD39 and ETD49 are also normal type of ETD type serise.

Taking half-bridge topology as an example: two power switching tubes alternately generate 100kHz high-frequency pulse signals, which are converted to stable AC output power through the ETD59 horizontal transformer. The turns ratio of primary and secondary windings determines the final output voltage of the power supply. Adopting low-loss manganese-zinc ferrite ETD59 core and horizontal DIP pin layout, this model reserves sufficient PCB layout space and supports high power density design.

The characteristics:

(1) current distribution

A typical high-frequency transformer has multiple parallel windings. Each secondary winding is coupled to the same primary winding. Therefore, the ampere-turns produced by the secondary winding current equal those from the primary winding (if excitation current is neglected). This feature is especially valuable for parallel rectifier circuits: the windings achieve automatic current sharing, so parallel rectifier circuits no longer require matched resistances or extra balancing components.
